Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 00:33:56 (EDT) What a very nice website. I last visited Cape Breton in 1962 when I spent the summer in Louisbourg. If any one knows the whereabouts of two very dear friends I met there, Archie and Margaret Leahy, tell them that Bill Altman says hello from California. I believe they built a motel and then retired to the Mira River and may still be there. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer.

Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 04:08:44 (PDT) Hi there,
I really, really enjoy your site. I moved back to Cape Breton recently--I hadn't lived here since leaving for Acadia U. in 1976. (I grew up in Sydney Mines.) I now live very close to the exit for Mira River. People here are like nobody else in the world...except perhaps those from Nfld! :-)
I do have one suggestion for this site: if possible, could a 'Personal' ad section be added?? All of the people with whom I grew up moved away years ago. I'm long past the point of frequenting bars, so as an expatriate-Caper who has returned, I've been finding it very difficult to meet new people...not to mention the fact that I'm temporarily disabled; therefore I can't meet friends 'at work.'
If there is interest in my idea from others, would you please consider it? Thank you VERY much for your consideration and for all your hard work!
Sincerely,
Heather

Tuesday, February 04, 2003 at 00:25:39 (PST) I used to live in Sydney between 1968 and 1970. I made many wonderful friends during that time and wished I had kept in touch. I attended Sherrif Jr. High and then Sydney High. I lived on Cottage Road across from Audrey Brocklehurst. One of my closest friends was Jan MacDonald whose father was the distributor for Scotties Potatoe Chips. And there was the red head, Lois!! I remember Karen Bagnell and Debbie and Mary Ellen Mceachern. I also remember John MacKinnon, Mike Gunn, the Kite boys, Wayne MacDonald and so many others. I would love to hear from anyone who sees this if they know where I can reach some of these folks. I had some of the best times in my life in Sydney and so regret not keeping in touch with everyone as I should have. My maiden name was Anne Baxter. I left Sydney to return to Montreal due to my mother's illness. Anyway would love to hear from anyone who I am trying to reach or anyone who knows where I can reach some of my old friends.
Many Thanks!

I heard about this site from Todd MacKeigan, while I was home for Christmas. This is great to see!
It truly is the best place in the world. Every time I get home, one of the first things I do is drive around the loop "Horne's Rd. - Highway - Brickyard - Gut - Horne's Rd", and visit the Gut.

Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at 14:24:48 (PST) I happened to stumble onto this site while browsing for pictures of home. I think it 's the best thing since sliced bread. I just moved to the NWT in august but I can't wait to get back to the Mira at Christmas. I lived there for 28 glorious years before I moved. I miss the times at Hoban's bungalow on Hillside and the rocky boston bashes on Big Hill. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought of getting home. I have travelled the world and seen many places but none as beautiful and none with people as friendly as Mira. They say home is where the heart is. If this is true than Mira will be my home till the day I die.

Wednesday, April 04, 2001 at 01:42:56 (PDT) hello ,
Not a bad site at all. Gotta say , I kind a like the
River myself......spent a few flat-calm, sunset evenings
lazily drifting on it myself. Gut bridge is a nice spot in
the summer. A few days and nights spent there over the years,
and a lot of good times. I don't think the younger crowds of
today are any more of a threat to the area than were the
crowds of years gone by. Its good to see the people (young &
old) still enjoy the Mira River and the Gut Bridge area.

Friday, March 23, 2001 at 14:43:52 (PST) Just found this site it is really neat. Before I left home I used to camp out at Hornes Road campsite. Some of my best memories are from there. Whenever I go home I usually go by there.

Congrats on one heluva great site. Nice to see Phyllis'
pictures of our Cove.
Hope too many out of towners don't land here because we'll be tripping over them all summer in the real place rather than the web...because as we all know..is there anywhere better to be than the Mira???
Continued success!

Friday, January 05, 2001 at 07:03:39 (PST) Johnnie,
Just me again, I just wanted to add to my previous post was that I don't like the fact that everytime you change links you open a new window. You should have it so that some of them open new windows but it gets really annoying!
Not wanting to sound harsh!
